Something a little different

Hello crafty friends it’s been a while so I hope you’re all fine & dandy. Well talk ABOUT April showers it’s persistent I’ll say that much and so dull I have got the light on and it’s 3.45 in the afternoon for pity sake!!!!!!!!!! Before I get started on my crafty project I just want to share this pic with you that I posted on facebook yesterday as it was our dear old Charley’s 21st birthday bless her she is an adorable thing who has a very unique character.

Anyhoooo do you remember a couple of weeks ago I posted a little teaser here on FB with this picture asking if you could guess what it would become well here is another snippet see if you can guess now.

No?? OK well I decided I wanted to make canvas wall hanging I have done a couple before mainly for a friend but it has been a while since I last did one and I had this idea in my head pecking away at me I do try to ignore the voices in my head most of the time but it’s not always possible (they can get very loud and persistent just like the rain lol)
So I listened and this is what came out as an end product

I see people do a lot of these and am in awe of them and never feel mine are anywhere near the standard but I did enjoy doing this one (plus I got messy big thumbs up for that!!!!!!!) so I started by giving the canvases (there is little square one in the top corner) a coat of gesso and let dry then added a bit of texture with homemade texture paste and plaster mesh again left to dry. I then painted them both in a mix of purple colours that I made using acrylic paint. The smaller canvas was added to the big one using texture past then painted over.

To add a little more texture and interest I very lightly stamped some small flowers in a pale grey them embossed with clear powder and added some muslin strips to the bottom corner again I painted this then I frantaged it to DEATH hahaha it was a pain to try and melt the frontage through the back of the canvas (note to self this is why I don’t listen to the voices!!)as you have to get really close but try not to bubble the paint or burn the canvas but I managed somehow.

As you may know I had already coloured the images and cut them out they are images from Mo Manning is   fairy Amanita  and the toadstools are from Polka doodles which I won as challenge prize (thanks Nikky) they have been coloured with polychromo pencils then I added fluffy stuff on the white bits on the top then I went over these with antique linen DI to make look a little dirty rather than pure white.

I then went over the toadstool heads with glossy accents to give a shine (doing this on both sets of images) Then I glued them in place with 3D tape and a mix of hot glue gun and pinflair.

To finish off I added a corner that I made from a corner die which has been embossed in silver powder and frantage and then from the smaller canvas I started to add a spray of the flowers I had made for the last few cards. The reason I added the smaller canvas was I wanted some height for the flowers if you know what I mean I didn’t want them to sit flat and thought that would be the best way (as I am no expert in these things. To add just a finishing touch I added some frosted stamens and berries and there you have it.

The only trouble was after having all that fun making all that mess I then had to clean it all up (bummer) oh well anyway hope you like it and I will see you soon.

Hello Jacki. Oh WOW, what a beautiful creation this is, and I know from first hand what these are like, because you made two of them for me which are hanging proudly on my wall, and have received many admiring glances. I am so proud of them and will treasure them always.
You put so much work and detail into them and this is just AMAZING.
Love you lots. Will speak soon when I am feeling better.
