80th Birthday Mummu

Good Morning Mo Friends I hope you are all well. The card I have for you today is one I made last year(that sounds so wrong as it was only a couple of weeks ago). I was asked by a cousin if I would make a card for his Nan as it was her 80th birthday on boxing day.The lady in question is also my Auntie so no pressure lol.
I decided to use a Mummu image as she is the perfect resemblance to how a grandmother should be. I coloured the image with polychrome pencils then inked with oxide inks.
I added die cut bird cage and flowers which I embossed with frontage powder, the papers were freebies from pixel scrapper which I thought went perfect with the image.
To finish I added a sentiment and insert with verse.
Hope you like it and I will see you soon.

Oh Christmas Tree Oh Christmas......

OK, so I’m back today as a guest DT member for we love 2 create who are a mixed media challenge blog. They used to be sponsored by Pans Pastels but now the sponsorship has been taken over by our very own  Nikky Hall of Polkadoodles. Now not long ago they had a DT call and I was so so so tempted to apply but my nerve got the better of me and I bottled it,  so When Claire asked if any of us PD DT members would like to be Guest DT  for a challenge I jumped at the chance yayyyyyyy more mixed media(I’m loving it at the moment and really want to do a lot more.

As my week is coming up to Christmas I decided to make a Christmas canvas.

I started with a blank 8x10” canvas and coated with gesso then added a sheet of Christmas paper from one of the many collections over at #polkadoodles I tore the edges of the paper so it would blend better when painted and there would be any harsh lines.

Then I  added so texture using some star and snowflake stencils I added some dotty texture as well. Then I added some circles by cutting lengths off the centre piece from some tin foil (you know the cardboard middle bit) I dipped that into the texture paste (homemade) and added it here and there to the canvas.
I then went all over with a thin coat of gesso to tone everything down I then started to add ink and paint to the canvas (distress stain and oxide inks and starlight acrylic paints). When I was happy(ish) with the inking I decided to move onto my tree (knowing I could go back in and add more colour if I wanted to once it was all in place) So taking sheets from different Christmas collections I printed them off then cout them into sections so I could roll them into straw like tubes.
This was the basic shape for my tree I just had to adjust the sizes of the straws to get smaller as they went up to the top. Once they were done I needed a base so I hand cut a pot shap from white card then using brown distress and oxide inks I went to town colouring it, once happy I shaped it and glued it to my canvas then added the straws to make the tree.

I wasn’t sure what to put at the top of the tree I did think about a star and something but then decided on a bronzey coloured bow and also thought I’d add one the pot as well.
I then went back in with my inks and paint to add some dimension to the tree and I also added some die cut snowflakes that I covered with frontage, I also added some to the canvas. I finished off with a sentiment from one of the papers I just cut out and embossed with clear powder then added splats of paint and ink.
So there you have my Christmas canvas I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it and I’ll see you soon.

Good ole Father Christmas

Hello again I hope you all had a great weekend For me it was getting some cards made there are some exciting things coming up in the new year with Polkadoodles but that is all I can say right now (mainly because that is all I know lol) but stay tuned as soon as I can tell you I will. I also have so many cards I want to make using Mo Manning images she has some adorable ones out right now need to get on those.

So for today’s card I have been sitting on it for ages now as I couldn’t posy it on here until I knew my dear friend had received it (I could post it before on facebook but I can’t now as she is on there  here now lol) so I have had to patiently wait.

Well now she has got it so I can finally post it yayyyyyyy
It’s my usual 8x8” card  and my papers are from Polkadoodles (of course, links below) which I have distressed and added splatters of paint and added a cut doily (why not)

I made the embellishments from a Britannia die and coloured with Brushos.  The sentiment is also from Polkadoodles  as is the greeting on the image.
The image is by Mo Manning which I have coloured with polychromo, Prisma and Pablo pencils I added some frontage to the image edges.

I finished the card with a matching insert in my usual style with a verse which I thought was very fitting.

So there you have my card for today hope you like it and I will see you very soon.

Mr Frosty Face

Core blimey is freezing brass monkeys here, Hello my dearies I do hope you’re all well keeping warm and are not to snowed in (it has gone from here mostly now but some of the roads are still very slippery)
Now then I have some exciting news last week I was asked to join the wonderful Dream Team for Maurie Manning!!! Yayyyyyy so so excited I couldn’t believe it when I got a message telling me (as you will all know if you are regular to my blog I love Mo’s images)
You will have to wait until Fri 22nd Dec for my 1st official DT post but here’s a card I made last night for you.
It’s an 8x8” card blank made from Kraft card the image and wording have also been printed on Kraft. Now I got the idea for the card from a lady that posted a card on the Polkadoodles FB page. She had made a Robin and put the poem about little robin red breast, I was looking for a really cute but simple idea for a card I wanted to make that will need to be posted so wanted the front to be as flat as possible (now you know me I love piling stuff on regardless)
The backing paper is from #Polkadoodles  it’s from the festive Christmas coleection (link below) which I have distressed the edges of.
I coloured the image (giggling snowman again link below) with a mix of polychrome, Prisma and luminance pencils. Then I typed the poem can’t remember where it came from have had it for ages. I then cut to size and stuck to front of card with 3D tape.
It did need a little something so I added a chipboard snowflake that I covered in frontage and that was the front done.

For the insert I used the paper from the front with a white faded matt then added the snowman, I decided I wanted to colour this one rather than just leave plain due to the CAS style of the front. Then, I just added a simple Christmas Greeting.

Hope you like it and I will see you very soon

Not a card Eeeekkkkk

It’s getting closer….. Are you ready for it? I’m not I’m not feeling the festive spirit al all this year Barrr humbug!!!! So I thought making a Christmas mixed media canvas for our new challenge over at Polkadoodles might help.

It’s a really easy one to do just taking some distress paints and mixed media sprays on top of texture paste then adding some frontage and Wow glitter embossing powder.
For the focal point I used some Christmas Baubles from a couple or Polkadoodles Christmas collections (Winnie White Christmas and Twiggy and Toots). I fussy cut them out and added some glitter and peel offs around one of the baubles and then sealed it all with a couple of coats of medium glaze. I then added some ribbon and bows to attach to canvas as though hanging.

I finished with a chipboard sentiment which I coloured with faded jeans re-inker and added some frontage and basically job done.
Hope you like and I will see you very soon

Ragged Winne

I’m back again my Lovies with another card to share with you. This is another half Polkadoodles half Mo Manning creation with the same LO as my previous cards.(well why not I’m on a roll)
So the LO is very distressed the papers are Polkadooodles from the festive Christmas and Winnie White Christmas ( you can find the link to get to them below)

I made papers straws from the same papers to coordinate and die cut a poinsettia flower and coloured with brushos.

The sentiment was stamped then embossed to give a little extra sparkle it was another freebie stamp from a magazine

The image is called Ragged Winnie by Mo Manning (I adore these Ragged images) which I have coloured with prisma and Pablo pencils. Then I inked around the edges.

To finish off the card I added an insert, hope you like it and I will see you very soon with more makes

On a Snowball

Well hello, I hope you are all well, for those that know me you will know that for most of my life (for one reason or another )I have had to deal with depression, well at the moment I am going through a very dark time I have tried to keep positive but finding harder and harder, I have mentioned it on face book and I speak openly on there about it but on here I try to keep things light hearted, but I feel at times people need to know the truth and that behind the bubbly posts are a lot of tears and desperation.
I do find my crafting helps but even that can sometimes be a struggle when my mood is really low. That being said I am slowly getting ahead with my Chrimbo cards so I should just about get them finished my new year (only kidding).

Today’s card is a mix of 2 of my favourite Artists Nikky Hall (Polkadoodles) and Mo Manning a wonderful combination!

The papers are from Polkadoodles as I keep saying I love love LOVE these collections (Winnie White Christmas and Festive Christmas collection) the papers are just GORGEOUS. I have used the same design as my previous card (why change what you like) I have distressed them then added some cheese cloth to the back, made some paper straws and die cut a poinsettia which I coloured with brushos (loving these).

The image is called on a snowball from Mo Manning Which I have coloured with a mix of Prisma and Polychromo pencils. I stamped the sentiment which as part of a freebie set from a magazine (think it was Card making magazine)

To finish off the card I made a matching insert and there you have it another crossed off my list yayyyyy!!!!

Winnie White Christmas last day launch

Good afternoon my lovelies I hope you aere enjoying all the Christmas makes for our DT. Girls you are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
I have to say it was a rocky start for me this release I honestly didn’t think I would be able take put or I would only be able to do a couple of cards so I was  really pleased to get my 7 yes seven little beauties ready.
I also treated myself to the stamp set (Ssssshhhhhh don’t tell Hubster hehehe)  so I’m having a play these too with my tim holtz/tonic stamp station OMG it’s a dream I love it the images are so crisp LOVE IT!!!

AnyHOOOOOO back to the card I made a Kraft card blank using 2 sheets of A4 kraft card then added Kraft to the back of all my papers I was trying to give it a vintagey feeling but still colourful and pretty.
I distressed the papers tearing in some places  and inked with oxide inks (I love these they’re sooooo blendable.

The image Called Winnie and Pengiun has been coloured with a mix of Pablo and Prisma pencils and then mounted onto Kraft card. I then added iced diamond and snow dust to the floor to give the effect of freshly fallen snow. I also masked off the image and went around it with oxide inks to create the background again in doing this these seem more blendable than the normal distress inks.

For the embellishments I took one of the word arts from the set and added clear embossing powder I did this a couple of times to give a good coverage, then I cut out the flower and leaves from the foliage section again I clear embossed the top sections of these then cut into some of the petal to give a more 3D effect then added a flat backed stone. To finish the look I added frontage and splatters of paint to the card.

The final step was the insert and that was done in my usual way (but a little differently) instead of brightening the inner paper and the fading it I just faded the edges letting it merge into the paper behind  then added the uncoloured image and a verse from the sentiment section.
Hope you like it and I will see you again very soon as I think I now have the Christmas bug lol

Winnie day 5 rolling snowballs

Happy Sunday Everyone I hope you’re having a great weekend. It’s party time over at Polkadoodles and Winnie is winning every ones heart
For this card I decided to try and make another vintage looking card I made the card blank using craft card that I die cut the front with a stitch effect square using ASue Wilson die in fact I used the set on most of the papers.  I added some frontage to the papers as well to give that snowy feeling.

The image is called Winnie rolling snowballs and I have coloured with a mix of Pablo and prisma pencils.

The sentiment is from the word art section on the download and I have jusy added some clear embossing powder to it.

To finish I added 3 snowflakes from my stash then moved on to the insert which is made using the same papers and the uncoloured version of the image then I added one of the sentiments that is in the collection and there you have it.

I hope you like it and hopefully I will have my next one ready for you tomorrow better get a wiggle on (things keep going wrong lol)
