Art Deco Delights

Hello my lovies I hope you are all fine and dandy and looking forward to the weekend. For me it looks like another busy one I have some birthday cards to design and get made for about 2 weeks time then I really want to make a start on my Christmas (yes I said the C word shoot me now!!!!) cards I really have no Christmas spirit this time of year then come the beginning of December I panic eeeeekkkkkkk so this year I want to start early.

Anyway enough about the C word I have a card for you today that I made last week. It’s a commissioned card that my MiL asked me to make for a friend of hers who is turning 65 Now I kind of know the lady so had a rough idea of what she would like so the design was pretty simple.
The card is my usual 8x8” and the papers are from Pixel scrapper which I distressed and inked with different purple colours of DI

The sketch I used for the LO is another one from Jules at always with a heart, her sketches are becoming a favourite of mine (she has so many talents)

The image is gorgeous Art Deco lady that my Fil got for me I have quite a collection now thanks to him (0: they are so beautiful and a gem to work with as you can really go to town with them (and I did)

I started by glittering the head dress and dress decoration then I added micro beads (they were actually nail art beads but they work so much better on cards than my finger nails lol)then I added liquid pearls fro added dimension.

To embellish the card I made the flowers from organza ribbon and I made the beads from a lovely iridescent paper that went so well with this design. I added the beads to a handmade tassel that I made from  metallic embroidery thread and attached them to the back of the paper before sticking it down. Then I added another flower (again handmade from organza ribbon) to hide the join. To the centre of the flower I added a purple glass gem and that was it for the front apart from the sentiment which is self explanatory

(For tutorial on how to make flowers please my blog post here)

For the insert as always I used the same papers as I did for the front and brought the image through to tie it all together. I made a digital mat so that both the image and the verse could be seen and printed off and put together.

So there is my card for today I hope you like it I will leave you with a list of challenges I would like to enter it into and another look at the gorgeous image
