shiny and new (a baby for you)

Hello my crafty peeps how are we today Fine and dandy I hope. Well yes I am back already with another card for you which was a little bit of an emergency make. My dear friend (she’s more family than a friend)from across the street came over Tuesday night looking all a fluster with phone in hand I’m thinking she’s going to burst into tears here what the hell has happened!!!!???? Then she shows me this bundle in blue she had become a grandmother a couple of days early. She hadn’t told me whether her son and his girlfriend were having a boy or girl so I knew I would have to wait until it was born to make the card. So that is what I did after she left I set to it but what a choice I had to make straight to my Mo Manning baby images eeeeekkkkkk do I use just a normal baby or a fairy baby
Decisions  decisions  (brain over fry) I decided to go with a baby image rather than fairy and chose shiny and new as (shock horror)I have had the image since it was first released but NEVER coloured it until now.
It’s really strange to think that little lad I know from all those years ago playing football on the green is now a daddy himself.

And here it is it’s an 8x8” card I used linen effect card to make the base the sketch is one I have used a few times for the LO in fact I used it about this time last year for another baby card (for the little girl I made Birthday trike card for). You can find Jules sketches here. The papers are from Pixel scrapper and I have distressed and inked the edges with tumbled glass broken china and faded jeans.

The image as I said is from Mo Manning and is called shiny and new Isnt it just the cutest I have coloured the image in with my Polychromo  and luminance pencils I am really pleased with how it came out. Then for the background I did something a little different I still used distress inks and my stencil brushes but I added Tumbled glass firstly to the bottom (rather than the top as I normally do) then broken china and faded jeans but only a little of these, I then got my pro markers out it’s been an age since I used these and made loads of dots all over where I had inked to give the impression of a rug or something rather than ground. I then did the top of the image with antique linen, frayed burlap, pumice stone and a touch of walnut stain. I then die cut the image out using an xcut circle die and distressed the edges  and inkedI used the same die to make the matt. I did this by simply drawing around the outer edge of the die (it gives you just the right amount of border doing this) then distressed the edges of this but kept it white.

I made the sentiment at the same time as printing the papers I cut it out inked matted onto a scrap of white card then started on the embellishments. I love my baby embellishments, I got them from America when we went a couple of year ago. I took a glass dummy(this was actually brought from the NEC) and added it to a fussy bow I had made then attached this to the strip of Gingham ribbon  I had put down the side. Then I added the bottle nappy pin and baby vest to the other side of the image.

Finally it was the insert again using a paper from the front and matting on top with a white piece I brought the image through and used it on the left hand side under this I put the baby’s name and DOB, then on the other side and verse for a new born baby boy

There you have my card for today I hope you like it and I will see you soon but for now I will leave you with a list of challenges and another look at the gorgeous image

Hi Jacki

What a gorgeous card . .. . have to admit to never having made a card this big in my life!!! For me it is the smaller the better if I'm not going to freak out! LOL!!

So pleased you are enjoying my sketches. Thank you for always linking through so others can share too.

Hope all is good at your end and your weather has been lovely this weekend.
